General Dentistry

Dental exam

This appointment offers an update of your medical history and a follow-up examination of your teeth. You can talk about all the problems you are experiencing with your mouth (sensitivity to hot or cold, bleeding gums, toothaches or pain, cosmetic concerns, etc…) Radiographs will help us complete your dental exam and a treatment plan will be suggested. As for children, we recommend seeing them for the first time at age 3.

Dental cleaning

We recommend that you come for a dental cleaning twice per year to ensure optimal oral health while keeping your mouth fresh. This treatment is done by your dental hygienist and includes the removal of tartar and stain build-up caused by your daily activities.

This procedure is used to restore teeth that have been affected by cavities or have been fractured. These fillings are done in either “White” composite or “Grey” amalgams.

We use sealants on children’s newly emerging adult posterior molars when the pits and fissures are deep to prevent dental cavities. This treatment is done without anesthesia.

This procedure allows us to improve the brightness of your smile. You can either choose to have your procedure done at home with personalized whitening trays or in our office with a special lamp in one appointment.

Aesthetic and surgery

Veneers are thin porcelain shells cemented to your natural teeth. By placing veneers we can change the shape and color of the natural tooth as well as hide imperfections and fill spaces in between teeth.

Where one or more teeth are missing for various reasons, it is possible to replace them by the dental implant. Unknown, this method has existed for over 30 years. It consists of installing a titanium alloy screw in the bone. Thereafter, a ring is permanently attached.

The extraction is a treatment, generally suitable for wisdom teeth. It is not required to extract them, but some criteria are checked. If they are easily accessible for brushing, they are completely erupted or positioned. During the dental examination, the dentist will evaluate whether it is advisable or not to proceed with the extraction. The extraction is an uncommon dental treatment. If a tooth is severely broken, with significant caries extraction may be suggested.

Bridges and crowns

Crowns and bridges are used to replace missing or damaged teeth and restore mastication, it also improve the esthetics of your mouth. These fixed prosthesis are made in a laboratory and are generally made of porcelain with or without alloys. Crowns are highly recommended after having a root canal done to protect the tooth, they also improve the esthetics.

This specialty allows realignment of crowded teeth, spaced teeth, or malocclusion. It is done with orthodontic braces, appliances and/or Invisalign shells. Orthodontic treatments restore chewing functions, and gives you a beautiful smile and self-esteem.

Root canal (Endodontics)

Root canal treatment is actually cleaning the canals of a tooth. Following a deep decay or trauma, this treatment will relieve pain or pressure. Once finished cleaning the canals, the tooth will be filled with a special compound.

Parodontitis (curettage)

Treatment for periodontitis requires a “curettage”, this is a deep cleaning under the gums. This is done under anesthesia permitting us to remove all of the bacteria and tartar build-up to slow down and stabilize the progression of the disease.
